The Library Development Foundation (LDF) has announced its participation in the validation of the Draft National Library Policy, a landmark initiative spearheaded by the Ministry of Education through the Zambia Library Service.
The policy, aimed at transforming and enhancing library services nationwide, represents a significant step forward in improving access to information and knowledge for Zambians. During the validation process, LDF collaborated with various stakeholders to ensure the policy addresses the diverse needs of communities.
According to LDF Chairperson Jordan Nkonde, the foundation takes pride in contributing to a process that is expected to revolutionize the library sector. “We are proud to have played a role in shaping the future of library services in Zambia. This policy will not only improve accessibility but also the overall effectiveness of library services across the country,” said Mr. Nkonde.
LDF Secretary Juba Chisulo echoed these sentiments, highlighting the importance of stakeholder collaboration in achieving a shared vision. “This initiative showcases how organizations and individuals can work together towards a common goal. We are excited to see the positive impact this policy will bring,” said Ms. Chisulo.
The validated policy is expected to be implemented soon, bringing much-needed improvements to library infrastructure, digital access, and resource availability. Stakeholders have expressed optimism that the policy will foster a culture of reading, lifelong learning, and equitable access to information.
