The recent unrelenting wildfires that have ravaged largely the major cities of California and Los Angeles in the United States of America [USA] calls to action for global environmental protection policy reforms, technology integration and innovation of proactive early warning systems including active involvement of community alertness or weather patterns for detecting any emerging strange occurrences so as to thwart events capable of developing into disaster, said Dr. Kelvin Kamayoyo, Technical Advisor for African Rivers a nonprofit organization promoting health of rivers and nature conservation.

Notwithstanding, the voice for the welfare of Rivers, Bees and Butterflies which are equally important nature species of the ecosystem is not being heard so far amidst the escalation of the wildfires in the concerned major cities of the USA. Undeniably, this is a source of concern because the adverse effects of the wildfires are likely to injure the health of rivers, bees and butterflies. The wildfires have destroyed habitats for humans and other ecosystem species which are crucial to sustaining a healthy environment.

The scale of the wildfires is unprecedented and vividly pose major threat to the health of rivers and other waterbodies especially in the affected cities of the USA. Most rivers are likely to be impacted by pollution induced by myriad detritus and toxins as the wildfires traverse the cities. The flow of these undesirable materials can have long-term effects on the water supply and adversely impact the quality of water for years. Life depends on rivers, and rivers are essential in restoring biodiversity and supporting economic progress.

Post the unfortunate events induced by the inflexible wildfires, there will be urgent need to ascertain the extent of injury on the waterbodies and animal species welfare in the affected areas. In an event that most of the animals had relocated or killed, there will be need to restock some of them in order to restore the ecological balance and revitalize the tourism industry or recreation economy.

Particularly restoring health of rivers would be more crucial because it has the ability to support life of many other ecosystem living species including providing safe water for plant, human and animal survival. Additionally, rivers provide habitats for fish that need clean gravels to spawn, bees to stay healthy and safe, and butterflies depend on rivers for high oxygen levels and cool water for survival.
