Lusaka, Zambia – It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Clare Mazimba, former Deputy Auditor General of Zambia. Mrs. Mazimba, who served as Deputy Auditor General in the Corporate Services Division, passed away on Christmas Eve at the University Teaching Hospital after suffering a suspected sudden stroke.
Mrs. Mazimba was a dedicated public servant who played a significant role in the National Audit Office. Her commitment to transparency and accountability in public finance management was widely recognized. In February 2023, she was among several officials removed from their positions by President Hakainde Hichilema as part of a broader restructuring of the Ministry of Finance and the National Audit Office.
Colleagues and family members have expressed their condolences and remembered her as a passionate advocate for good governance. “Clare was a true professional who always strived for excellence in her work,” said a former colleague who wished to remain anonymous.
Her contributions to the field of public finance and her unwavering dedication to her duties will be remembered by all who knew her.
Our deepest condolences go out to her family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time. May her soul rest in peace.
