A pivotal workshop was recently held in Lusaka, designed to enhance the collaboration between Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs). This event was orchestrated by the Intosai Development Initiative (IDI) as part of the CADRE Project, in partnership with the Office of the Auditor General in Zambia and Transparency International Zambia.
The workshop provided a platform for comprehensive discussions regarding the crucial role that CSOs play in Public Financial Management (PFM), while also tackling the various challenges and opportunities that exist within this essential field. A significant aspect of the conversations centered on the independence of SAIs, highlighting its critical importance in fostering effective governance. Furthermore, attendees explored the benefits of establishing strong partnerships between CSOs and SAIs, demonstrating how such collaborations can greatly enhance accountability and transparency in the oversight of public financial resources.
