Government has called on the Department of Immigration and other security wings to tighten the security in borderlines to avoid illegal activities.
And speaking at the passout Parade of 102 Border Guardsat Geoffrey Mukuma Sondela Paramilitary Training School, the Minister of Home Affairs and Internal security, Jack Mwiimbu urged border guards to collaborate with other security wings in order to secure the country’s point of entry.
And the Immigration Director Japhet Lishomwa noted that , the department is concerned with the transnational crimes of smuggling of immigrants and trafficking in persons which have increased over the past few years due to porous borderline.
He noted that the, Department of immigration has only 43 border control dotted along borderline, leaving most of the space unmanaged in the suspectable to illegal border crossing.
