Councillor Mainda Simataa of Kamwala Ward has expressed immense satisfaction with the inauguration of the New Lackson Mapushi Police Post in Kamwala South, describing it as a long-awaited achievement for the local residents who have endured a 25-year wait for a proper police facility in their area.
He highlighted the previous conditions under which police officers operated, noting that they were confined to a rundown storage room left by the contractors of Kamwala South Secondary School back in 1999.
The newly established police post, now equipped with essential amenities such as water, electricity, holding cells, and restrooms, is finally deserving of the title of a police station, according to the civic leader.
The vibrant handover ceremony for the police post, which was constructed at an estimated cost of K823,000 through the 2023 CDF fund, was attended by notable figures including Mr. Mapushi, the Permanent Secretary of Lusaka Province, and the son of the late Kabwata MP after whom the facility is named, as well as representatives from the Zambia Police, esteemed government officials, and members of both the Kabwata Constituency and the Kamwala South community.
