Zambia and Burundi have reached an agreement to establish embassies in each other’s countries, a move aimed at deepening their bilateral relations. President Hakainde Hichilema announced that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed to facilitate the establishment of direct embassies in both nations.
During a state banquet held in Lusaka, President Hichilema revealed that efforts are underway to secure a suitable location for the Burundi embassy. He emphasized the importance of strengthening economic ties between the two countries and highlighted the potential benefits of integrating Burundi into the Lobito Corridor.
In response, President Evariste Ndayishimiye expressed gratitude to Zambia for providing refuge to many Burundian nationals during times of political turmoil. He also expressed Burundi’s willingness to learn from Zambia’s experiences in order to foster economic growth and development in both nations.
