Isaac Muhanga, the Director of Financial Markets at the Bank of Zambia (BOZ), recently discussed the central bank’s efforts to promote sustainable economic transformation and climate change adaptation on behalf of BOZ Governor Denny Kalyalya.
Muhanga emphasized BOZ’s commitment to climate change adaptation through various initiatives aimed at fostering sustainable economic growth, in line with Zambia’s environmental sustainability policies outlined in key national development plans and international agreements.
BOZ’s focus on stimulating and supporting the financial sector includes the development of a Green Finance Framework and Green Loans Guidelines to encourage green financing and investment in environmentally sustainable projects.
These measures are part of BOZ’s broader strategy to promote sustainable economic growth while addressing the challenges posed by climate change, aligning with global efforts such as the Paris Agreement and the UN Convention on Biological Diversity.
