Civil Society Organisations (CSO) Debt Alliance Coordinator Peter Mumba expressed his approval of the upcoming Economic Summit, deeming it a crucial event for national development in Zambia.
Mumba highlighted the current developmental challenges faced by Zambia and the region, stressing the need to address these issues promptly.
He underlined the significance of aligning efforts with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Agenda, the 8th National Development Plan (NDP) targets, and Zambia’s national Vision 2030 within a constrained timeframe.
The 2024 Economic Summit, organized by the Economics Association of Zambia (EAZ) and set to take place on July 25 and 26, 2024, is viewed as a pivotal platform to unite policymakers, academia, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), economic think tanks, and other key figures dedicated to national progress.
Mumba articulated, “Our objective for the summit is to formulate recommendations, strategies, and policy alternatives for Zambia to explore post-debt restructuring, laying the groundwork for enhancing national resilience.”
He called upon a diverse range of stakeholders, including industry leaders and heads of organizations from various sectors, to actively engage in the crucial discussions facilitated by the EAZ during the summit.
