President Hakainde Hichilema has reaffirmed his preference to be addressed as ‘Mr. President’ or ‘HH’, despite receiving an Honorary Doctorate from Heriot-Watt University Business School in Edinburgh, Scotland.
During a speech at Oxford University to Zambians residing in the United Kingdom, President Hichilema emphasized the significance of unity and collaboration in addressing the challenges faced by Zambia.
He downplayed the importance of titles and honors, urging Zambians abroad to work alongside the government in promoting trade and investment within the country.
President Hichilema encouraged individuals to join him in marketing Zambia, stating that they can simply refer to him as HH, without the need for extravagant titles or gestures.
President Hichilema highlighted the crucial role of Zambians living abroad as “marketing investment officers” for the nation. He emphasized the need to attract international trade and investment in order to stimulate economic growth.
While acknowledging the current difficulties faced by Zambians, such as high prices of essential goods and services, President Hichilema expressed optimism about the future of the country.
He emphasized the importance of communicating these challenges to citizens back home, as they ultimately decide who governs the nation.
President Hichilema assured the audience that within two years, Zambia will experience significant improvements, as the government’s efforts will lead to sustainable growth and an enhanced quality of life for its citizens.
