The Zambia Police Service has officially announced the arrest of Honourable Jay Banda, the Member of Parliament for Petauke, in connection with serious criminal offenses.

Honourable Banda is facing charges of Aggravated Robbery and Attempted Murder under specific sections of the Penal Code Act Chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.

The alleged crimes took place on December 14, 2015, at Mzigawa Primary School in Vubwi District of Eastern Province around 15:00 hours.

The incident involved the theft of property totaling K12,000, which included items such as a Canon Camera valued at K10,000, spectacles valued at K1,800, two ATM cards, and cash amounting to K200. The victim of this incident has been identified as Mr. Peter Sukwa Muchelenga.

Honourable Banda has been placed in custody at Chipata Central Police Station and is expected to appear in court soon to answer to the charges brought against him.

The Zambia Police Service emphasizes its dedication to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that justice prevails, irrespective of the social standing or position of the individuals involved.

The public is urged to remain composed and allow the legal process to unfold accordingly. This information was shared through a statement by Rae Hamoonga, the Police Public Relations Officer, which was sourced from the Zambia Police Service Official Facebook Page and reported by Melo News.
