Long-time politician, Vernon Mwaanga, has stressed the importance of Zambians adopting the One Zambia One Nation motto as the nation commemorates its 60th year of independence.
Additionally, Mr. Mwaanga highlighted the significance of all citizens embracing the ideology of the first President of Zambia, Kenneth Kaunda, which revolves around promoting peace and unity among the people.
Speaking to ZANIS in Lusaka, Mr. Mwaanga explained that the One Zambia One Nation motto serves as a unifying slogan aimed at bringing together all the diverse tribes within the country.
He further acknowledged that Zambia owes its current state of unity and progress to patriotic individuals like the late first President, as well as others who made sacrifices to secure the nation’s liberation.
Meanwhile, Former Nigerian President, Olusegan Obasanjo, encouraged Zambians to continue embodying the principles of the late Dr. Kaunda, emphasizing the importance of serving humanity over personal interests as Zambia reaches its 60th year of independence.
As Zambia prepares to celebrate its 60th independence anniversary on October 24th this year, the theme “60 years strong, honouring our heritage, embracing the future” will guide the nation in reflecting on its past achievements and looking forward to a promising future.
