Minister of Information Moses Kunkuyu has revealed that Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (Macra) has reached out to communications regulators in Zambia and Tanzania for assistance in locating the missing plane carrying Vice-President Saulos Chilima and nine others.
Addressing the media in Lilongwe, Kunkuyu mentioned that Macra has taken the initiative to activate the emergency telecommunications operations centre to ensure that necessary support is provided during this critical time.
Additionally, Kunkuyu informed that Macra has sought the expertise of the Angola Space agency to aid in utilizing satellite imagery for the search efforts.
In light of the situation, Kunkuyu has appealed to the citizens of Malawi to refrain from engaging in political discussions and sensational reporting. He emphasized the importance of acting responsibly and maintaining a united front during this challenging period.
