The Eastern Province Council of Chiefs has condemned tribal remarks against some ethnic grouping attributed to Lumezi independent Member of Parliament Munir Zulu saying his utterance is not a representation of the people in the province.
Speaking during a press briefing in Chipata,Council chairperson Chief Mnukwa said the Lawmaker should not drag the people of Eastern province into his personal mischief as his views do not represent any one in the province.
The traditional ruler said the Independent Member of Parliament Munir Zulu’s utterances have the potential of sparking hatred and promoting tribalism.
“Such tribal remarks by the law marker can have severe consequences on both individuals and societal which can bring discrimination against some ethnic groups therefore we must condemn such,” he said.
He charged that the utterances by the law marker is against the country’s quest to promote peace in the country.
Chief Mnukwa has called on the people of Eastern province to play a leading role in denouncing acts of tribal remarks which are being perpetrated by politicians.
He said that the law marker should not promote tribalism to gain political mileage, adding that such tribal remarks must be avoided in any form, especially coming from a youthful leader.
“His remarks are a receipt of anarchy in the country as witnessed in a number of countries, as a youthful leader he must speak words which inspire youths,” chief Mnukwa said.
Meanwhile Agrippa Zulu, a freedom fighter, has called on the people of Province to ignore the remarks made by Lumezi MP.
Mr Zulu,who is among those that for the country’s political freedom advised the people of Eastern Province to distance themselves from the tribal remarks attributed to the Lumezi lawmaker.
