Parliament is set to resume its sessions next week, and Vice President Mutale Nalumango has issued a challenge to the National Assembly Presiding Officers.
In a training workshop held in Lusaka, Mrs. Nalumango emphasized the importance of maintaining high levels of discipline among parliamentarians during all proceedings. She highlighted that discipline plays a crucial role in addressing national matters and ensuring that all members have equal opportunities to contribute.
Mrs. Nalumango further stated that her office is committed to establishing a coherent legislative framework through the national assembly, aiming to create a conducive governance environment that is essential for national development.
However, she acknowledged that the effectiveness of such a framework relies on the smooth conduct of government business on the house floor, which will ultimately have a positive impact on government policy direction and service delivery to the people.
In addition, Clerk of the National Assembly, Roy Ngulube, expressed confidence that the training of presiding officers will strengthen parliamentary democracy and maintain order and peace within the national assembly.
