Following the official closure of the ballots, Julius Malema, the leader of the EFF, expressed his gratitude towards the supporters who turned out to vote for his party. In a video shared on social media, Malema acknowledged the frustrations experienced by South Africans under the ruling party’s governance, emphasizing the urgent need for land reform, job creation, and an end to load shedding.
Malema passionately urged his supporters to remain at the polling stations and ensure that their votes make a difference. He emphasized the power of their votes in bringing about positive change, such as putting an end to load shedding permanently, creating job opportunities, and addressing the issue of land ownership in the country.
Despite the closure of the polls, Malema encouraged voters to stay in line and cast their votes, as the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) allowed those already queuing to still submit their votes. He concluded by expressing gratitude to the people of South Africa for demonstrating that the upcoming elections in 2024 hold the same significance as the historic 1994 elections, emphasizing the importance of perseverance and determination in shaping the future of the nation.
