Mr Zulu was apprehended and taken into custody at Maina Soko Military Hospital, where Petauke Member of Parliament, Emmanuel Jay Banda, is currently undergoing treatment after his reported abduction. The circumstances surrounding Mr Zulu’s detainment remain unclear, but Home Affairs Minister Jack Mwiimbu has officially confirmed the detention.
Minister Mwiimbu strongly criticized Mr Zulu’s actions, labeling them as irresponsible and inappropriate. He emphasized the importance of respecting the laws of the country, especially for leaders like Mr Zulu, who should set an example for others to follow. The Minister expressed his disappointment in Mr Zulu’s behavior, stating that it is unbecoming of a leader.
In his address to the public, Minister Mwiimbu urged all Zambians to maintain peace and unity, advising them not to be influenced by any provocative or divisive remarks. He highlighted the dangers of hate speech and divisive language, particularly when directed towards specific tribes or regions, emphasizing that such behavior is unacceptable in a country as diverse as Zambia. The Minister called for unity and understanding among all citizens, regardless of their backgrounds.
