Yesterday, Hon Warren Mwambazi, the Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee, spearheaded a team to inspect various projects in the Mpongwe area of the Copperbelt region, a decision prompted by the Auditor General’s Report for the Financial Year Ended 31 December 2022, which flagged concerns related to the Ministry of Education.
The report specifically drew attention to a farm and equipment owned by Kitwe DEO that were found abandoned in Mpongwe, sparking worries about the proper management and utilization of public resources in the region.
Under the guidance of Hon Warren Mwambazi, the committee took the initiative to delve into these allegations, aiming to ensure transparency and accountability in the execution of government projects.
By physically visiting the site and conducting a thorough assessment firsthand, the committee members were able to gather crucial insights that would enable them to make well-informed decisions and provide recommendations for future actions.
