President Hakainde Hichilema is scheduled to travel to Kenya tomorrow to participate in the Africa Fertiliser and Soil Health summit on May 9.
This visit comes as a result of an invitation extended by President William Ruto of Kenya. The summit aims to emphasize the significant role that fertiliser and soil health play in promoting sustainable agricultural productivity growth.
Acting Foreign Affairs minister Mulambo Haimbe stated that the meeting also seeks to reach a consensus on an action plan for fertiliser and soil health in Africa. During the summit, President Hichilema will have the opportunity to engage with other African heads of state, as well as high-ranking government officials, senior policy makers, and development partners.
Additionally, the President will hold bilateral meetings with other leaders to address pressing regional issues. Haimbe emphasized that this visit is well-timed and aligns with Zambia’s economic transformation agenda.
The Zambian government remains committed to attracting investments in climate-smart agriculture to enhance food security and improve livelihoods in the face of climate change.
