The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has recognized the remarkable strides made by Zambia in its pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the areas of democracy and human rights.
However, UNDP Zambia Resident Representative James Wakiaga emphasizes that there is still much work to be done to maintain and build upon this progress. Speaking at the recent Timbuktoo Strategy Retreat in South Africa, Mr. Wakiaga highlighted Zambia’s advancements in upholding democratic principles and human rights.
While Zambia is highly regarded for its commitment to these values, he stresses the importance of continued investment in the rule of law and administration of justice to ensure sustained progress and the preservation of the gains achieved over the years.
This statement was issued by Tamara Nyirenda, the First Secretary of Press and Public Relations at Zambia’s High Commission to South Africa.
