The Kuomboka ceremony in Zambia occurs as the rainy season comes to a close, with the upper Zambezi River overflowing onto the plains of the Western Province. This traditional festival commemorates the relocation of the Litunga, the esteemed leader of the Lozi people, as he moves from his residence at Lealui situated in the floodplain of the Zambezi River to Limulunga on elevated terrain.
Several interconnected industries, including tourism, hospitality, entertainment, transportation, and various other sectors, heavily rely on the annual Kuomboka Ceremony to drive their business activities during this particular period of the year.
The Kuomboka Ceremony of this year stood out due to the unprecedented presence of His Royal Highness, Paramount Chief Chitimukulu of the Bemba Speaking people as a distinguished guest of honor, marking a historic moment in the event’s history. Additionally, the President of the Republic of Zambia, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, graced the occasion with his presence, adding to the significance of the ceremony.
