Senate President Miloš Vystrčil began a working visit to Zambia and was welcomed in Lusaka by President Hakainda Hichilema. Following this, he held discussions with Speaker of the National Assembly Nelly Butete Kashumba Mutti along with the Senate delegation. Two memoranda were signed during the visit – one on development cooperation and the other on the medical program MEDEVAC.
During the meeting with President Hichilema, they talked about potential cooperation between the Czech Republic and Zambia, as well as their shared history. The President expressed his gratitude for the humanitarian aid provided by the Czech Republic to the Zambian Red Cross.
An agreement was reached on mutual cooperation between the Czech Senate and the Zambian National Assembly, focusing on areas such as rural development, agriculture, and combating drought. The Chairman noted a strong interest in these areas from President Nelly Mutti and other Members of Parliament.
In addition to the Senate President, the delegation included Senator Jiří Vosecký, Chairman of the Standing Committee for Rural Development, Jarda Chalupský from the Regional Development Committee, Eva Rajchmanová, a member of the committee representing Hodonínsko, Kyjovsko, and Veselsko, and Helena Pešatová, a Senator from the Standing Committee VODA-SUCHO. They also visited the Charity Czech Republic humanitarian project in Lusaka to support refugees.
