The United Kingdom has recently provided 9.1 million pounds to support the development of the Nakonde One Stop border post in Zambia.
This funding will help Zambia achieve its goal of becoming a transport and logistics hub.
According to Transport and Logistics Minister Frank Tayali, this initiative will not only improve trade with neighboring Tanzania but also strengthen Zambia’s position as a regional transit hub.
Tayali also highlighted that Zambia’s infrastructure development plays a crucial role in providing transit support to neighboring countries.
British High Commissioner to Zambia Nicholas Woolley reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to supporting infrastructure development for trade facilitation between Zambia and its neighboring countries.
He emphasized that the establishment of the one-stop border post at Nakonde will significantly reduce transit times, particularly the current six-hour journey between Zambia and Tanzania.
