The Ministry of Finance, under the guidance of Finance Minister Situmbeko Musokotwane, has initiated the process of aligning the 2024 National Budget in response to a directive from President Hakainde Hichilema.
In light of the current drought situation, President Hichilema emphasized the need to reallocate resources from consumption expenditure to critical areas such as food security, investment, and revenue generation.
Dr. Musokotwane confirms that the alignment process is currently in progress and that a parliamentary committee will soon be involved in the process.
Once the alignment is completed, the budget will be presented to parliament for approval, in accordance with the regulations outlined in the public finance act.
