Economist Professor Oliver Saasa has warned against turning Zambia’s debt restructuring success into a political issue. He stressed the importance of having meaningful discussions about the topic to aid in the country’s economic growth.
During an appearance on Phoenix FM’s “Let The People Talk” show last week, Professor Saasa emphasized the necessity of having open and accurate conversations about the debt restructuring process.
Professor Saasa also highlighted the need for Zambia to concentrate on increasing its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) after the successful debt restructuring. This, he believes, will allow the country to invest in crucial areas like agriculture and manufacturing.
Economic Expert Andrew Chibuye, who was also a guest on the same program, expressed confidence in the current economic strategy’s ability to relieve Zambia’s economic pressures.
Mr. Chibuye encouraged Zambians to come together and back the government, stating that remaining in a continuous state of debt default would not be advantageous for the nation.
