President Hakainde Hichilema addressed the concerns raised by the opposition regarding his administration’s performance.
Despite facing criticism on various issues, the President emphasized the progress made in the application of national values and principles over the past year.
He acknowledged that while the government has received criticism, it has remained steadfast in the fight against corruption, alcohol and substance abuse, early child marriage, and gender-based violence.
The President also highlighted the efforts to promote morality, human dignity, good governance, and sustainable socio-economic development. He recognized that there is still more work to be done but emphasized the importance of national values and principles in driving national development.
The government is committed to maintaining law and order, as it is crucial for social order and economic growth.
The President expressed gratitude to the citizens for maintaining peace and particularly thanked those in areas where by-elections were held for the peaceful atmosphere that prevailed.
He expressed satisfaction at the sight of politicians from different parties interacting openly during their campaign activities in Shiwang’andu of Muchinga province, an area that was once known for its political unrest.
