Absa Bank partnered with Zambia Forestry and Forest Industries Corporation today in Lusaka in order to promote environmentally sustainable forest management practices in the country.
And speaking at the events the Managing Director of Absa Bank Mizinga Melu notes that Absa Bank will plant one million trees in over two years in order to have a sustainable economy and forestry.
And the Minister of Green Economy and Environment Collins Nzovu says climate change is real stating that everyone should plant a tree in order to have enough water and good rainfall for the pattern.
Meanwhile, the Managing Director of Zambia Forestry and Forest Industries cooperation Mundia Mundia says the cooperation is implementing Forest expansion Plants in order to increase its plantation size by 50,000 hectares in the next five years.
He notes that the ZAFFICO has planted 5.9 million seedlings in line with the Promotion of tree plantation by individuals, Communities and organization in the country.
Therefore he says that ZAFFICO has begun a process of engaging and assessing the impact of the dry spell and to provide seedlings at no additional cost to all affected beneficiaries.
