Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) is emphasizing the importance of incorporating gender into anti-corruption strategies in order to tackle the specific obstacles faced by women and girls in the country.
According to TIZ Executive Director Maurice Nyambe, despite recent policy and legal changes aimed at promoting gender equality in Zambia, assessments on the progress of gender mainstreaming have largely overlooked its role in combating corruption.
Reports such as the gender status report and the parliamentary committee report on gender mainstreaming activities have failed to address the intersection of gender and corruption.
Nyambe firmly believes that interventions in the fight against corruption in Zambia must include a gender perspective in order to effectively address the unique challenges faced by women and girls.
By integrating gender considerations into anti-corruption strategies, TIZ aims to ensure that these efforts are inclusive and responsive to the needs of all members of society.
