In the current era characterized by rapid communication, Lieutenant General Oscar Nyoni of the Zambia Air Force (ZAF) emphasized the significance of responsible social media usage among officers under his command.
During a morning aerobics parade held at the ZAF Headquarters Air Base to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Force, Lt Gen Nyoni stressed the importance of discretion and adherence to established guidelines to maintain a professional online image that mirrors the values and dignity of the Air Force.
Reflecting on the six-decade journey of the ZAF, the Commander envisioned a future workforce where quality was paramount, emphasizing discipline both in social media interactions and uniformed conduct, while also focusing on enhancing the overall lifestyle of the personnel.
Lt Gen Nyoni underscored the necessity for all staff members to ensure that their online presence aligns with the values and dignity of the Zambia Air Force, emphasizing the importance of healthy eating habits, physical fitness, and active engagement in sports with serious consequences for non-compliance.
Furthermore, the Commander highlighted the pivotal role of these habits in promoting a healthy lifestyle for military personnel, urging individual and collective commitment to embracing them to enhance well-being and agility within the ranks, while also emphasizing the non-negotiable need for high levels of discipline and confidentiality as fundamental elements of the Force’s success and identity.
Over the course of its 60-year history, the force has achieved numerous milestones, as highlighted by the Commander, including the acquisition of new uniforms, the development of infrastructure and projects, involvement in agriculture, and participation in international peace support operations.
During the same event, Zambia Air Force Chief of Training, Brigadier General Geoffrey Hambulo, emphasized the importance of honoring the Air Force’s legacy and maintaining readiness for duty by committing oneself to service and demonstrating unwavering determination in all assigned responsibilities.
Brig Gen Hambulo urged all personnel to uphold the core principles that have guided the Air Force since its establishment – to protect and provide assistance. He stressed the significance of recognizing that each individual is part of a larger collective, shaped by a legacy of service and selflessness that spans six decades.
