President Hakainde Hichilema had the esteemed opportunity to serve as the Chairperson of the SADC Organ Troika on Politics, Defence, and Security, where he led a group of Heads of State in a special ceremony this morning.
During the event, President Hakainde Hichilema and his fellow leaders unveiled the Statue of the Founding Father and First President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere, paying tribute to his significant contributions to the nation.
The event was a touching moment that acts as a continual symbol for the citizens of Africa, particularly the younger generation, of the bravery, selflessness, and admirable accomplishments of Julius Nyerere and other Pan-Africanists such as Dr. Kenneth David Kaunda, Kwame Nkrumah, and other African leaders who fought for the complete liberation of the African continent.
President Hicghilema conveyed his heartfelt appreciation to the AU Secretariat for their diligent efforts in erecting the Statue, acknowledging their unwavering commitment and hard work. He emphasized the significance of African solidarity and friendship, highlighting the importance of unity among nations. Additionally, the President extended his gratitude to the esteemed Heads of State for their presence and participation, recognizing their valuable contribution to the event.
