The Thirteenth National Assembly’s Third Session, which concluded indefinitely on Friday, 15th December 2023, is set to reconvene on Tuesday, 13th February 2024 at precisely 14:30 hours.
In the previous session, which primarily focused on budget matters, Dr. Situmbeko Musokotwane, the Minister of Finance and National Planning, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure for the Financial Year 2024. This presentation was in accordance with Article 202 of the Constitution of Zambia (Amendment) Act No. 2 of 2016. The Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure were then referred to the Expanded Planning and Budgeting Committee for a thorough examination, as mandated by Standing Order No. 157 (4) of the National Assembly Orders. Following this, the budget was extensively discussed and ultimately approved by the House.
The upcoming session scheduled for Tuesday, 13th February 2024, marks an important legislative meeting where proposed legislation will be thoroughly examined. This session holds immense significance as it provides an opportunity for citizens and stakeholders to actively engage in the decision-making process. Melo Media strongly urges individuals to show their interest and actively participate by submitting their valuable inputs through the different committees of the House. By doing so, we can collectively shape the future and ensure that our voices are heard in the legislative process.
