During a press briefing in Lusaka, Minister of Education Douglas Syakalima reassured parents, guardians, and the nation that necessary measures have been implemented to ensure the safety of children.
He emphasized that schools play a crucial role in social control and will instill good hygiene practices, making the children ambassadors of cleanliness.
Mr. Syakalima confirmed that schools will open as scheduled, despite the previous postponements due to the cholera outbreak. The decision was made after a meeting with the National Disaster Management and Mitigation Council.
Parents and guardians can rest assured that the Ministry will persist in carrying out inspections and monitoring the situation while the children attend their lessons.
Mr Syakalima emphasized the importance of maintaining hygiene and cleanliness, urging citizens to actively participate in the campaign by refraining from littering.
Additionally, he highlighted that head teachers have been directed to address the topic of hygiene and the significance of not littering during daily assembly sessions with the students.
