According to the BBC, it has been reported that the Duke of Sussex will be making a trip to the United Kingdom in the near future to visit King Charles.
This visit comes after Buckingham Palace announced that the monarch has been diagnosed with cancer. A source close to Prince Harry revealed that he has already had a conversation with his father regarding the diagnosis.
It is worth noting that the duke and his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, relocated to the US after stepping back as senior members of the royal family last year. Since then, Prince Harry’s relationship with other members of the royal family has been strained.
His most recent appearance at a royal event was during the King’s Coronation in May, where he made a brief appearance before leaving immediately after the ceremony at Westminster Abbey.
More recently, he traveled back to the UK to attend libel cases involving UK newspapers. Following the news of King Charles’ diagnosis, numerous well wishes have been pouring in for the King, with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak expressing his hopes for a full and speedy recovery.
On X, a heartfelt message was shared expressing confidence in the King’s swift recovery. The author expressed no doubt that the King would regain his full strength in a short period of time, and conveyed the sentiment that the entire country would be sending their well wishes.
Sir Keir Starmer, the Labour leader, also extended his best wishes to the King, emphasizing his hope for a speedy return to good health.
Notable figures such as Boris Johnson, Liz Truss, and Tony Blair, who have previously held leadership positions in the UK, also sent their messages of support to the King. Mr. Johnson expressed that the entire nation would be supporting the King during this time, while Ms. Truss invoked the phrase “God Save The King!” to convey her well wishes. Mr. Blair, on the other hand, wished the King a complete and swift recovery to excellent health.
The leaders of the devolved nations also responded to the news of the King’s cancer treatment. Scottish First Minister Humza Yousaf expressed his thoughts and support for Her Majesty The Queen and the rest of the Royal Family during this worrisome time. Welsh First Minister Mark Drakeford conveyed that his thoughts, along with those of the people of Wales, would be with the King and his family. Northern Ireland First Minister Michelle O’Neill also wished the King a full and speedy recovery.
The King also received well wishes from overseas, with US President Joe Biden expressing his concern and hoping for a quick recovery. President Biden expressed his desire to speak with the King soon, highlighting the importance of their communication.
