Speaking during the affirmation in Lusaka today, Mr Jeff Sakulanda says this year’s theme is promoting river restoration, technology and climate finance for sustainable development and job creation in Africa.
He says the Indaba and Expo will attract many participants from eight riparian countries in order to form the Zambezi River Basin namely Zambia Angola, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe Mozambique, Malawi, Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Africa.
He notes that Zambezi River and Expo 2024 is part of the answer stating that it will focus on climate adaptation in order to improve the health of rivers on the African continent.
Therefore, he says Rivers have been critical in fostering the development of early civilisation stating that Rivers remain vital to many sectors such as economies as it is a factor of production at different levels.
