The existence of a region known as Western Province, Barotseland, is incorrect. This region does not exist as it contradicts the concept of a unitary state. It is important to emphasize that the state is indeed unitary. The speaker urges everyone, including those present and the citizens of Zambia, to remember and acknowledge that we are all part of one unified Zambia. We are a single nation, with a shared identity and interdependence among its people.
The country’s Head of State emphasized the importance of teamwork in order to achieve economic growth and success.
President Hichilema emphasized the importance of delivering on promises and made it clear that there would be repercussions for any failure to do so. Additionally, he urged the participants to foster strong relationships with one another as they collectively strive to serve the people of Zambia.
President Hichilema expressed his recognition of the progress made in revenue collection and disbursement, highlighting the strides that have been achieved. However, he also expressed his dissatisfaction with the current pace of project and programme implementation, attributing the responsibility to the implementing Ministries and Spending Agencies. He emphasized that such inefficiencies will not be tolerated if Zambia aims to achieve its goal of attaining 21st-century status.
In order to ensure efficient delivery, he emphasized the importance of officials activating their critical thinking and innovative abilities.
President Hichilema emphasized the importance of directing financial resources towards investment and revenue generation rather than consumption. He highlighted the need to prioritize spending on initiatives that would contribute to long-term growth and development, such as infrastructure projects and measures to enhance revenue collection. By shifting the focus towards investments and revenue generation, the President aims to foster economic stability and create a sustainable financial framework for the country’s future. This approach reflects a strategic vision that seeks to maximize the benefits of financial resources and ensure a prosperous future for the nation.
