ZAFFICO, the Zambia Forestry and Forest Industries Corporation, has recently made a significant investment of US$3 million in a Kiln machine. This investment is expected to have a positive impact on the company’s pole production, doubling the number of poles produced per year.
This investment is expected to greatly increase the company’s production capacity, allowing them to produce over 240,000 poles per year. The Kiln machine will play a crucial role in this expansion by significantly reducing the drying time of the wood from 2 months to just 7 days. This investment is expected to greatly boost ZAFFICO’s pole production capabilities.
According to Mr. Mundia, the company has faced difficulties in the past with drying poles using natural methods, as it was a slow process and hindered their ability to meet market demand. The introduction of the kiln machine aims to address these challenges and improve production efficiency.
During a visit to the plant, Mr. Mundia, a representative from IDC-Group, revealed that ZAFFICO is in discussions with a client from Congo DR. The client will be visiting the plant soon to explore potential collaboration and support for the production of poles to meet the demands of the export market.
The IDC Group CEO, Cornwell Muleya, praised ZAFFICO for their investments and emphasized the importance of all state-owned parastatals in contributing to the growth of Zambia’s economy.
