Gregory Chifire, a member of the Southern Africa Network against Corruption (SANAC), has called for the removal of former President Edgar Lungu’s immunity. Chifire argues that by revoking Lungu’s immunity, he will have the opportunity to address the various allegations of misconduct that have been made against him.
This is in violation of section 309 of the penal code cap 87 of the laws of Zambia. Chifire also claims that Lungu has been enjoying benefits as a former president while still actively involved in politics.
