President Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania has been invited by President Hakainde Hichilema of Zambia to embark on a State Visit to Zambia from October 23rd to 25th, 2023. This visit aims to strengthen diplomatic relations and cooperation between the two countries.

The State Visit of President Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania to Zambia will involve in-depth discussions on various subjects, such as bilateral relations, regional cooperation, and global affairs. These discussions will build upon the previous State Visit made by President Hichilema to Tanzania in August. A key focus of the agenda will be the important infrastructure projects that connect Zambia and Tanzania, including the Tanzania Zambia Railways (TAZARA), Tanzania Zambia Mafuta Pipelines Limited (TAZAMA), and the Nakonde-Tunduma One-Stop Border Post.

During the State Visit of President Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania to Zambia, there will be important discussions between the two countries. These discussions will result in the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in various sectors including Trade, Investment, Energy, and Defence.

During her state visit to Zambia, President Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania will attend the 59th Independence Celebrations in Lusaka and participate in the Zambia-Tanzania Business Forum. Additionally, she will have the opportunity to address the National Assembly of Zambia on Wednesday, October 25th, 2023.

Both Zambia and Tanzania have a shared history of the liberation struggle, which has laid the foundation for their strong bilateral relations. This visit by President Samia provides an ideal platform for Zambia to strengthen its partnership with Tanzania, with a focus on practical cooperation that will enhance trade, encourage investment, and create economic opportunities for the people of Zambia. The engagements of President Samia are expected to conclude on Wednesday, 25th October 2023.
