The Ministry of Lands in the Copperbelt Province is taking steps towards better land management by implementing a new e-system. This system will replace the old land management system and will include 59 services available on the Zamportal. The migration of data from the old system to the new e-system is currently underway, with the aim of addressing land mismanagement in the region.
The process began on May 15, 2023, and has already received praise from Smart Zambia National Coordinator Percy Chinyama. The e-system is expected to improve the management of land in the country and address past issues. This move towards digitalization is a positive step towards efficient and effective land management.
According to Mr. Chinyama, the ministry has over 1.1 million clients, but only 250,000 have completed the authentication process for their records. The new digital system aims to make the process more efficient and accessible for all clients.
According to Enaya Jere, the Copperbelt Assistant Chief Registrar, the system is still in its early stages but has already received a positive response from clients. This move towards digitalization is expected to streamline processes and improve efficiency in land transactions.
The Ministry of Lands on the Copperbelt has recently implemented an e-system, marking a shift towards digitalization. According to Senior Land Surveyor Brian Chitoshi, this new system will play a crucial role in preventing any illegal activities within the ministry.
