The Patriotic Front (PF) has accused the police of deliberately removing state security from the residence of former President Lungu, calling it a targeted act of harassment and aggression.
Emmanuel Mwamba, a presidential aspirant for the Patriotic Front (PF) party, has accused the police of withdrawing state security from the home of former Zambian President Edgar Lungu. Mwamba spoke out against the removal of police officers from Lungu’s residence, calling it a form of harassment. The PF party has been vocal in its support of Lungu, who was defeated in the 2021 presidential election by opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema.
The Patriotic Front (PF) party has accused the police of deliberately removing state security from former President Lungu’s residence, calling it a targeted attack on the president. The party expressed concern over reports that all officers had been withdrawn from the property, labeling it a coordinated act of harassment.
According to a spokesperson for the party, officers who were present during a raid on the former first lady’s home were accused of siding with Lungu, and there were threats made against them. The PF has raised concerns about the safety and security of their political opponents, and has called for an investigation into the matter.
However, the Home Affairs Minister, Jack Mwiimbu, has denied these claims and dismissed them as false.
According to Mr. Mwiimbu, the PF has accused the police of withdrawing state security from Mr. Lungu’s home. Despite these speculations, Mr. Mwiimbu asserts that Mr. Lungu is still entitled to security and that any reports of police presence being removed are not accurate.
However, police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale has released a statement stating that the former head of State still has State Security. The situation remains unclear and is being closely monitored.
According to a statement from the police, the officers who were previously providing state security at Lungu’s home have been withdrawn and reassigned to other duties. This comes after the circulation of a message on social media platforms accusing the police of intentionally withdrawing security from Lungu’s residence.
