The CHOFOSA Story: Empowering Chongwe Secondary School Alumni. For almost five decades, Chongwe Secondary School has been a hub of education for countless students. Over the years, the school has undergone changes, including the inclusion of girls and a name change. However, one thing remains constant: the school’s commitment to providing quality education. The Chongwe Secondary School Alumni Association (CHOFOSA) was established to create opportunities for former students to give back to their alma mater and support current students in achieving their academic goals.
The CHOFOSA Story is a testament to the success of Chongwe Secondary School alumni. Many former students have gone on to achieve great things in various fields, including politics, business leadership, and faith leadership. It’s inspiring to see how the school played a role in shaping their paths and helping them reach their potential. Looking back, we can all take pride in our accomplishments and be grateful for the education and guidance we received at Chongwe Secondary School.
The CHOFOSA Story is about creating opportunities for alumni of Chongwe Secondary School. While we may fondly remember our time at the school, the infrastructure has suffered from years of wear and tear. It’s been almost 50 years since the school has had any serious recapitalization, yet hundreds of students still pass through its gates and are served in the same Dingo. It’s time for us to come together and invest in the future of the school and its students. Let’s create opportunities for the next generation of Chongwe Secondary School alumni.
Despite the fact that some of the dormitories are in poor condition and have been damaged by the elements, the former students are determined to make a difference. They believe that it is their responsibility to help improve the school and alleviate some of the hardships that the current students are facing. Through their efforts, they hope to create a brighter future for the next generation of Chongwe Secondary School students.
The Chongwe Secondary School Alumni have taken action to improve the school’s conditions by forming the Chongwe Former Students’ Association (CHOFOSA). This group consists of former students from various graduating classes who have united to make a positive impact on the school. By pooling resources and working together, CHOFOSA aims to create a better learning environment for current and future students, as well as supporting the dedicated teachers who work hard to educate them. The CHOFOSA organization has made significant strides in improving the infrastructure of Chongwe Secondary School. Recently, they were able to purchase and deliver a submersible pump to provide water to the girls’ dormitories, as well as a 10,000-liter water tank that will soon be installed once the school completes the stand fabrication. With several projects in the works, CHOFOSA is committed to creating more opportunities for the school and its alumni in the coming months.
The CHOFOSA Story is about creating opportunities for alumni of Chongwe Secondary School in Zambia. This initiative has received donations of materials from individuals, and is registered as a non-governmental organization under Zambian law. The organization has an executive committee and an association bank account at ZANACO, with the school head serving as an ex-officio member of the executive and attending some of the meetings.
As former students, it is our responsibility to give back and contribute to the betterment of our alma mater. By utilizing our networks and associations, we can come together to gather the necessary resources to help rebuild and support the school. It’s time for us to make a lasting impact and leave a legacy for future generations of students.
While we understand that it’s not our responsibility to take over the government’s or parents’ responsibilities, we believe that our contributions can make a significant difference in easing some of the hardships that students face. For instance, we often overlook the simple things that we enjoy, such as sanitary pads, which can be a huge challenge for some of our girls to find regularly. We also aim to motivate students through award-giving ceremonies, just like how we were motivated to work hard in the past.
Unfortunately, many events and projects are hindered by a lack of funding. The school buildings are in need of repainting, but with the help of alumni, we can make a difference. Even a small donation of K200 can make a significant impact on the students. By pooling our resources, we can raise thousands of Kwacha to fund much-needed projects and work with the school to improve the facilities. Let’s come together to support our beloved school and create opportunities for future generations.
