Our Melo Personality of the Week is Langford Banda, whose determination and perseverance have been evident since a young age. At just five years old, Langford’s parents enrolled him in Namando Primary School, despite his small size and young age. Every school day, Langford had to walk 5km from his home to school, a journey he made for seven years. Despite the challenges he faced, Langford never gave up and continued to work hard towards his goals. His inspiring story serves as a reminder that with hard work and determination, anything is possible.

Our Melo Personality of the Week is Langford Banda, a true inspiration to us all. Despite facing numerous obstacles in his academic journey, Langford refused to let them hold him back. Instead, he used them as motivation to work even harder and pursue his education with even greater determination. His hard work paid off, as he achieved excellent results and successfully made it to grade 8.

A young man who has already achieved so much at a young age. He attended Hillside Basic School for his junior secondary education before moving on to Chunga High School for his senior secondary education. While at Chunga, Langford was elected as the president of the Mathematics Club, an impressive achievement for someone in grade 11.

A curious and driven individual who has always had a passion for learning about world history. During his high school years, he became particularly interested in European history after being exposed to it in class. This fascination with the past has continued to shape Langford’s life and inspire him to keep exploring and discovering new things.

Langford Banda is our inspiring Melo Personality of the Week. His passion for history, particularly the events of World War II, led him to dream of traveling to the places he read about. Despite not having the means to make these dreams a reality, he continued to read and learn more about the Russian resistance against Nazi Germany. Langford’s determination and love for history serve as an inspiration to us all.

He had a passion for Russian literature and history, collecting books about Russia and its fascinating past, including The Patriotic War of 1812 and the 2nd battle between Russia and France. Despite having no connections or means to make it happen, Langford’s desire to travel to Europe, specifically Russia, was evident and he dreamed of making it a reality.

Despite the challenges, he managed to overcome them and passed with flying colors, proving that with determination and hard work, anything is possible. Langford’s story is a reminder that obstacles can be overcome with the right mindset and attitude.

In 2009 and early 2010, he dedicated his time to tutoring math and science to 8th to 10th graders at Leomwe Training School in Matero as a relief teacher. His exceptional performance during this time paved the way for his next step in his academic journey.

At that point, he eagerly awaited for feedback from several institutions where he had applied for tertiary education. These included The University of Zambia (UNZA), The Copperbelt University (CBU), as well as university scholarships in China, Algeria, and Russia.

Our Melo Personality of the Week is Langford Banda, whose inspiring journey began with a wait for acceptance letters from universities. He received his first response from CBU and was eventually offered a Russian government scholarship, which he eagerly accepted due to his strong inclination towards all things Russia. Mr. Banda’s dedication and commitment to excellence serve as a shining example to us all.
