This week’s inspiring personality is Langford Banda, a 30-year-old Power Plant Engineer and successful entrepreneur. Despite his young age, Langford is already the CEO of two companies: Dimensions Agro-Mark, an agro-processing company, and Fortress Properties Limited, a real estate company. Both companies are based in Kitwe on the Copperbelt. Langford was born on December 16, 1992, in Lilanda West, a suburb of Lusaka. Even as a child, he showed great intelligence and promise.
Our Melo Personality of the Week is Langford Banda, whose determination and perseverance have been evident since a young age. At just five years old, Langford’s parents enrolled him in Namando Primary School, despite his small size and young age. Every school day, Langford had to walk 5km from his home to school, a journey he made for seven years. Despite the challenges he faced, Langford never gave up and continued to work hard towards his goals. His inspiring story serves as a reminder that with hard work and determination, anything is possible.

Instead, he used them as motivation to work even harder and pursue his education with even greater determination. His hard work paid off, as he achieved excellent results and successfully made it to grade 8.
A young man who has already achieved so much at a young age. He attended Hillside Basic School for his junior secondary education before moving on to Chunga High School for his senior secondary education. While at Chunga, Langford was elected as the president of the Mathematics Club, an impressive achievement for someone in grade 11.
A curious and driven individual who has always had a passion for learning about world history. During his high school years, he became particularly interested in European history after being exposed to it in class. This fascination with the past has continued to shape Langford’s life and inspire him to keep exploring and discovering new things.
Langford Banda is our inspiring Melo Personality of the Week. His passion for history, particularly the events of World War II, led him to dream of traveling to the places he read about. Despite not having the means to make these dreams a reality, he continued to read and learn more about the Russian resistance against Nazi Germany. Langford’s determination and love for history serve as an inspiration to us all.
He had a passion for Russian literature and history, collecting books about Russia and its fascinating past, including The Patriotic War of 1812 and the 2nd battle between Russia and France. Despite having no connections or means to make it happen, Langford’s desire to travel to Europe, specifically Russia, was evident and he dreamed of making it a reality.
Despite the challenges, he managed to overcome them and passed with flying colors, proving that with determination and hard work, anything is possible. Langford’s story is a reminder that obstacles can be overcome with the right mindset and attitude.
In 2009 and early 2010, he dedicated his time to tutoring math and science to 8th to 10th graders at Leomwe Training School in Matero as a relief teacher. His exceptional performance during this time paved the way for his next step in his academic journey.
At that point, he eagerly awaited for feedback from several institutions where he had applied for tertiary education. These included The University of Zambia (UNZA), The Copperbelt University (CBU), as well as university scholarships in China, Algeria, and Russia.

He received his first response from CBU and was eventually offered a Russian government scholarship, which he eagerly accepted due to his strong inclination towards all things Russia. On 3rd October 2010, he embarked on his journey to study Power Plant Engineering at Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University in St. Petersburg City, Russia. Banda’s determination and passion for his field of study make him a true inspiration.

Langford held various positions of responsibility, including Hostel Representative for Zambian students and Co-coordinator of the Zambian Students’ Union in St. Petersburg (ZASUS). He served in this role for two years, gaining valuable leadership experience that has continued to shape his conduct and approach to problem-solving long after his tenure as VP ended. After impressing those around him with his skills and determination, Langford was offered a paid internship with ROSATOM OVERSEAS, a well-known Russian power plant company. He worked as an International Exhibitor and gained valuable experience before returning home after completing his studies. Langford’s story is a testament to the power of dedication and the rewards that come with hard work.
Langford Banda, a hardworking individual who has achieved great things in his career. From 2015 to 2016, he worked as an Assistant Registration Officer for the Electoral Commission of Zambia, where he was able to save up enough money to purchase 10 hectares of land in Kitwe’s New Kitwe residential area. In addition to this, he also worked as an intern Electrical Engineer for 6 months in the Electrical Section of the Engineering Department, where he contributed to the installation of solar-powered traffic lights in the city as part of the smart city project. Langford’s dedication and commitment to his work is truly inspiring!
Langford Banda, a young entrepreneur who, along with his colleagues, has taken on the challenge of adding value to their crop production. Starting with cassava, they began milling it into a meal and packaging it into 25kg bags, which they manufacture right in Kitwe. This has not only added value to their produce, but has also created employment opportunities for 10 young men and women, bridging the gap from raw material to the final product market. Langford’s inspiring work is a testament to the power of innovation and entrepreneurship in creating positive change in communities.
Our Melo Personality of the Week is Langford Banda, a young entrepreneur and student from Lusaka. Langford is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration degree at Supershine University, where he has gained valuable insights into the world of business management. One course in particular, Business Management, has provided him with a wealth of knowledge that he has been able to apply to his own business ventures. Despite his busy schedule, Langford remains an inspiration to those around him, demonstrating that with hard work and dedication, anything is possible.
Langford Banda, an inspiring entrepreneur who has dedicated himself to creating job opportunities for local people. Despite facing challenges along the way, Langford persevered and in 2021, he graduated as a professional entrepreneur. He has also taken part in numerous international business trainings, earning four entrepreneurship certificates and one mentorship certificate. Langford’s dedication to his community and his commitment to personal growth make him a true inspiration.
Despite the challenges brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic, Langford and his company were able to weather the storm through timely and consistent counter measures. While the business was partially affected, Langford’s leadership kept it afloat and inspired his team to persevere through the difficult times.
He faced a difficult situation when his only business was shaken, but he didn’t give up. Instead, he and his team decided to start a new venture as a fall back option. They registered a real estate company called Fortress Properties Ltd, which owns bare land around Kitwe and sells it as plots. This independent business has become a successful venture for Mr. Banda and his team.
Despite not being formally employed, his leadership skills have been recognized time and time again. Most recently, he was installed as the Secretary General of ZAMRUS, showcasing his dedication to serving his community and making a positive impact.
