Contrary to reports, the Road Development Agency (RDA) has denied signing a contract for the upkeep of the Kipushi-Solwezi-Katima Mulilo road in North-Western province.
According to Anthony Mulowa, the Acting Director of Communications and Corporate Affairs for RDA, the agency has not entered into any contracts for the construction of the Mansa-Luwingu-Kasama-Mbala-Nakonde road.
According to Mr. MULOWA, there are allegations that a company called Mayzuh Zambia has signed two financing contracts with three Zambian companies to carry out construction work on two road corridors. These contracts are currently being investigated by RDA (Road Development Agency).
Following reports of fraudulent road contracts, the RDA (Road Development Agency) has launched an investigation to identify the individuals or companies responsible for the false signings. Mr. Mulowa, a spokesperson for the RDA, confirmed that the agency is taking the matter seriously and is committed to ensuring that all road contracts are legitimate and transparent.
According to recent statements, the responsibility for the care, maintenance, and construction of public roads in Zambia falls solely on the Road Development Agency (RDA), as mandated by the Public Roads Act. This includes the task of probing road contracts to ensure they meet necessary standards and regulations.
A statement was released today to Melo Media news regarding RDA’s probing of road contracts. Further details were not provided.
