Three grade 12 pupils at Chongwe Boarding Secondary School have been arrested in connection with the death of a fellow pupil.
The deceased’s father, Mathew Kaunda, claims his son Raphael, aged 16, who was in grade 12, died days after his friends allegedly assaulted him under unclear circumstances.
Mr. Kaunda emotionally narrates that after his son was picked in a frail state, concerned pupils at the same learning institution tipped him that Raphael was badly beaten by the trio among them a prefect.
The incident is reported to have occurred on March 17, 2023 and he died two weeks later, after being admitted to the University Teaching Hospital-UTH in Lusaka.
Police Deputy spokesperson, Danny Mwale, has confirmed the arrest of the three pupils.
The school is located about 35 kilometers east of Lusaka, Zambia’s capital city.
