Yesterday, we attended the Kuomboka Kufuluhela Fundraising Dinner Dance at the newly refurbished Hotel Intercontinental. The event was graced by my colleague & brother Hon. Gary Nkombo, MP – Minister for Local Government and Rural Development.
We in the Ministry of Tourism believe that “a nation stays alive when its culture stays alive”. As such, the ministry has placed a premium on traditional ceremonies such as the Kuomboka of the Lozi-speaking people of the Western province.
Such ceremonies provide an opportunity for both local and foreign tourists to experience the uniqueness of culture & norms that Zambia prides itself. These are traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation.
As government, we will endeavor to support all ceremonies gazzated to ensure that our cultural heritage is kept alive….
In the meantime, engage that local tailor, “Ba Mbewe” or “Esnoko” to make you that elegant Musisi and/or Siziba in time for the ceremony early next month (April) Date to be announced.
