Police in Lusaka received a report of theft from motor vehicle in which unknown people broke into a Toyota Mark X and stole from therein money amounting to K1, 000,000.
The incident occurred on March 6, 2023 around 14:30 hours at East Park Mall along the Great East road.
The victim alerted Police officers who rushed to the scene. Initial investigations indicated that the passenger door was tempered with using unknown objects.
When interrogated, the victim who works for Yatu Equity Business Company identified as Ken Phiri aged 30 of Lilayi area in Lusaka said he withdrew the money from East Park Mall and secured it in the car.
He said the money was placed in a laptop bag on the passenger’s seat. Later he walked into a Restaurant after securing the car and when he returned to where he had parked, he observed that the passenger door was tempered with and a laptop bag together with the money missing.
Investigations have been instituted.
