TWO DAYS OLD BABY DUMPED IN KAFUE

Police in Kafue are investigating a report of Child dumping in which a two-days-old female baby was dumped in the bush in Shikoswe area.

The baby was discovered on February 8, 2023 around 13:00 hours by a concerned member of the public who rushed it to Kafue General Hospital for medical attention and later reported the matter to Police.

Brief facts are that on February 7, 2023 in the night, some members of the public in Shikoswe area heard some noise from the nearby mountain which sounded like that of a crying baby but thought it was a sound of a bush cat.

Then on the February 8, 2023, at around 13:00 hours, one member of the community heard the same noise again and that was when she went to the mountain and found the baby wrapped in a plastic and chitenge material. She immediately picked the baby and rushed it to Kafue General hospital and later reported the matter to Police.

Police officers visited the scene as well as the hospital were the condition of the baby was reported to be stable.

Investigations to find the mother of the baby are ongoing.
