Police in Lusaka have charged and arrested Patriotic Front Presidential Hopeful Chishimba Kambwili for unlawful assembly.
This follows a protest over the high cost of living staged by youths at his residence in Lusaka on 26th January 2023.
Deputy Police Spokesperson Danny Mwale who confirmed the development says Mr Kambwili has been jointly charged with Charles Kakula, who led a protest march to his house between 08:00 and 12:00 hours.
It is alleged that the two whilst acting together with other unknown persons did unlawfully assemble causing other persons to reasonably fear for the breach of public peace.
Mr Kambwili and Mr Kakula are currently in police custody awaiting court appearance.
Police officers earlier this morning surrounded Mr Kamwbili`s residence, a move which he described as unacceptable.
