This follows several reports of attacks on members of the public and Police swung into action in Mongu Central Business District and arrested 19 suspects aged between 18 and 40. One was found with cannabis and officers from the Drug Enforcement Commission have since been engaged.
The operation was conducted on January 15, 2023 between 20:00 hours and 01:00 hours in Mongu town.
They are all detained in Police custody awaiting to be formally charged.
And Police in Lusaka arrested 45 persons believed to have been behind a spate of attacks on members of the public in Matero and surrounding compounds.
This followed several reports of attacks on members of the public by the ‘junkies’ with others being raped as early as 18:00 hours.
The operation was carried out on Saturday, January 14, 2023 between 14:00 hours and 18:00 hours in Katambalala, Chibolya, Petroda , Zingalume, Lilanda, Chipolilo, Kumalasha Muchinga grounds, Chunga and Shadreck areas.
All the suspects aged between 17 and 50 are in Police Custody awaiting court appearance.
