Swedish Embassy Head of Cooperation Ms. Susanna Hughes has hailed the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) for its commitment in ensuring that public resources are protected in the country.
Ms. Hughes said this during the Annual Review Meeting on the Restructuring and Institutional Development Project (RIDP VI) at the Office of the Auditor General in Lusaka.
Ms. Hughes said the Swedish Government remains committed to working with the Office of the Auditor General in the promotion of transparency, accountability and prudent utilisation of public resources.
She stated that the Office was a key institution in the accountability process of the country as it safeguards public resources from being misused.
And Auditor General Dr. Dick Chellah Sichembe thanked the Swedish Government for their unwavering support in ensuring that the Office actualised its mandate of protecting public resources in the country.
Dr. Sichembe said the support from the Swedish Government over the years has helped the Office improve its efficiency in auditing, which support has led to timely production of the various audit reports among others.
The Auditor General further stated that the Office will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that public resources are used for the intended purpose for the benefit of the citizens.
Recently, the Swedish Government signed a grant of over 60 million Kwacha with the Zambian Government to help support the Office of the Auditor General in its Restructuring and Institutional Development Program Phase Seven (RIDP VII) for the strategic plan period 2022 to 2025.
